Here is a really cool article about the discovery of a twin sun about 200 light years away that might (or might not) have similar planets to our solar system.
The reason I am posting this is because of a statement they made that got me wondering...
"Keep in mind that any alien astronomers on such a planet would be studying Earth as it appeared in the early 1800s. That information, encoded in light, is just arriving at HP 56948 now. Our radio and television signal leaking into space won't reach the star for another 130 years. In the absence of such an electromagnetic signature extraterrestrials may overlook Earth and scout elsewhere."
Does that mean they would only see the light from our planet or they could actually see what was going on on our planet from the 1800s? Would that be like time traveling?
